Once upon a time there was a girl from Canary Islands called Shelagh who decided to go to Germany to work as an volunteer. At the same time there was a boy from the Czech Republic called Jiri who did so as well. As the time showed at the end, their decision was final for their future lifes.
But first let me go back to the beginning. these two people had not met yet and worked their voluntary jobs in diferent parts of Germany. I don't know so much about Shelagh's job but what is clear is that she didn't like her work, the place and neither the people there.
On the other hand Jiri had found the right place with a very interesting job and with a very friendly people. All the volunteers were young people from all over the world and had the same aims: to make new friends, to get to know other cultures and traditions, to learn other languages and to explore particular part of Germany.
Each day they cooked a different type of food from a different country. Because Jiri's knowledge of cooking equaled to zero, all the cooking was basically limited by him making tea. He always helped someone else to cook something. By doing that he almost learned to cook a Spanish omelet, but without practice he kept on forgetting.
The work there taught them about care for the environment. they cleared up the forest and the river, they built protections for small trees which are in a huge danger of being eaten by wild animals, they pieled the bark of the trees which they used for building fences around the natural reserve. Nevertheless, staying there wasn't just about the work.
